TUTORIAL HELL

TUTORIAL HELL

Hello Everyone, Welcome to my first blog post. This blog post is a task for the hashnode bootcamp cohort 2. 6 months ago, I started my journey into tech. I did not have money to attend a bootcamp so I decided to go the way most developers go which is being a self taught developer. ]As a self taught developer, you basically learn everything with the help of tutorials and it is very easy to fall into the trap of tutorial hell like me some months ago. This brings me to my topic today TUTORIAL HELL.

WHAT IS TUTORIAL HELL?

In lame man words, tutorial hell is when developers cannot develop projects without the help of a tutorial. They have a tutorial for almost everything and cannot a single line of code without watching several tutorials to help you out. Just imagine being excited about starting a new project and you have to watch tons of tutorials to get past the header; very overwhelming right?

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM TUTORIAL HELL

  1. You get overwhelmed when trying to write code on your own.
  2. You cannot work on any projects without watching tutorials in other words you are not creative.
  3. You do not try out new challenging projects. There are so much more but these are the most common ways to figure out you are stuck in tutorial hell.

ESCAPING TUTORIAL HELL

Tutorial hell can be escaped by working on challenging projects without the use of tutorials. There are so much thing to know in programming and no one expects you to know everything that is why most developers join communities and make use of google and stackoverflow when they face difficulties or bugs so ways to escape tutorial hell are:

  1. Join a tech community

  2. Learn how to use Google and stackoverflow to search for solutions to bugs and problems.

  3. After watching a tutorial, try and be creative with the things learnt and participate in tasks and projects on websites like frontendmentors
